Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 24.02.25

Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely half term! It has been mental health week in school and the children have done some work on how important it is to look after our own mental health. We watched the film ‘Inside Out’ and discussed all the various feelings we could experience. We have also used the story ‘The Colour Monster’ to remind us of the different feelings. We use our pegs in school to indicate how we are feeling that day. We have also produced some lovely self portraits using words to describe our personalities. These are on display in our classroom.

In Maths this week, the children have started the unit all about fractions. We did some practical activities to show our prior knowledge and used resources to represent unit fractions. We learned new vocabulary, including numerator and denominator and that fractions with the same numerator and denominator represent a whole. We will also compare fractions and put them in order on a number line. Take a look at some of our photos to see what we have been up to. In English lessons, we have explored what makes an effective beginning, middle and end. We have used our knowledge of fronted adverbials to help organise our paragraphs. In our reading session, we have focused on vocabulary choices in poetry and enjoyed sharing the poem 'cloud soup'. We had a go at writing our own based on a different theme.

In Computing we have been using the internet to research different countries around the world. This helped us to explore what a search engine is, how to search appropriately and to use a search engine to find specific information. Our learning linked with our work on staying safe online too.
