This week as part of our Science work, the children created a classification key. We used our knowledge of animal characteristics to use and create a classification key for several invertebrates. We used our invertebrate fact file to come up with the criteria to help sort the creatures. The children followed a flow chart to help identify each animal.
In Topic, the children completed a fact hunt to gather information about general day to day life for the Vikings. We drew upon our current knowledge of the materials they commonly used and animals they farmed to help us learn more about what a Viking village might have looked like. We ended the week by joining up with Oak class to watch a Viking programme.
In English this week, the children planned their own information text using all the skills we have been learning over the last few weeks. We identified the features and grammar used and we will recreate our own text using an imaginary creature.
In Maths, the children have consolidated their work on addition and subtraction using the column methods and efficient calculations. We will continue to practise using these methods after half term. Next term, we will start our work on multiplication and division.
Have a lovely half term!
