This week as part of our Science work on animals and their habitats, the children recapped the 5 main animals groups. We learned that these animals can reproduce in different ways. Some lay eggs and some have babies. We explored the different characteristics of these groups and how they are categorised. In Music, we have listened to the song 'Lean on Me' by Bill Withers. We will accompany the song using garage band where we will learn how to play the notes C and E.
In writing lessons, we planned and wrote our final story of a missing item that has been washed up on the beach. The children have been exploring fronted adverbials and how these can be used in paragraphs. We learned what makes an effective beginning, middle and end and used these skills to write our own short stories. In maths, the children have been learning how to order fractions on a number line. We will compare fractions using a number line to help us find equivalent fractions.
In our Reading lesson we have been detectives looking for evidence in the text to support our answers. The children have been exploring a Science fiction text and discussing how the characters felt at different points in the story.
On Friday afternoon we had our half termly visit to Forest School and as part of this we made links to our Topic. The children created a field sketch from the view at the top of the meadow. We learnt about which order to draw our field sketches and how to show the key physical and human features. The children did a super job!
Thank you to parents for the wonderful efforts put into World Book Day costumes. We loved seeing all the 'goodies' and 'baddies' on display in our parade. Click here to see the school photos.
