Willow's World Book Day and more!
Willow Class have enjoyed this first week back after half term and have all come back well rested and keen to learn!
This week in music we have been learning about crochets, quavers and rests. This is quite a tricky subject as the children have to listen very carefully to pieces of music and understand their different rhythms. The children listened to Samba music and we spoke about the different beats they could hear.
In Science the children learned about shadows and how they are made. This topic of Science is proving very interesting to the children and they are really enjoying it as it is very ‘hands on’ and the children can really see the different examples of light that we are looking at.
The children started Athletics in PE in preparation for the summer term and on Thursday they were all very excited to get back into the swimming pool!
We have been carrying on with our fractions topic this week and have been looking at ‘Finding Fractions of quantities’. Fractions is always a tricky topic to learn and we have been using a lot of hands on resources to make it easier for the children to understand.
Explanation and information texts have been our focus in English this week and the children have been making up their own subheadings for pieces of text and putting sentences in the correct order. They have found it interesting to see how important it is to learn this skill otherwise the piece of writing wouldn’t make sense!
On Friday, we were delighted to see lots of well thought out book character costumes for World Book Day and I hope you will enjoy our class pictures!
