Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow Week Beginning 3rd July

This week has been full of exciting events including our whole school Sports Day, our final swimming session and even our final visit of the year to Forest School. We have also been busy in the classroom working on our understanding of plastic waste and pollution in our Topic lesson as well as deciding on the ingredients which we will include in our quiche recipes for next week's DT lesson.
This week in Science, we carried on with our work on classification. We used post-it notes to create our own classification keys, using what we knew about the characteristics of different animals to help us. In Music, we continued with listening to pieces of music from different periods of history. The children did really well with appraising the music, talking about the pitch and dynamics. We also did some great singing in two parts.
In Maths, we've been revising finding fractions of amounts in different ways including using playdough to represent the different fractions, which we really enjoyed. In English, we've continued to look at balanced arguments. This week, we practised writing paragraphs for and against tourists being allowed up Snowdon, focusing on how we could order and link our ideas.
Our Computing work has been based on using commands in Logo and we have designed our own symbols to promote sustainability. We looked at the recycling symbol and discussed the shapes and colours which could be used to represent ways in which we can look after our world before having a go at designing our own.
