Willow - Week 6

With one more week to go until half term, Willow Class are still in full swing!

This week, the Year 4 children experienced a fantastic STEM workshop using KNEX where their task was to design and build a robotic arm.  Needless to say they worked very hard and a great time was had by all!

Meanwhile, Year 3 enjoyed an art workshop where they used shading techniques to draw their own dragon eye.  This idea and task was based around the class reading book, 'How to train your Dragon' by Cressida Cowell,

English this week focused around the VIPERS technique of Guided Reading.  The children are becoming very proficient at reading and understanding various genres and texts.

We continued our Addition and Subtraction topic this week and the children are starting to understand and devise their own word problems using these two operations.

Using 'Arthur and the Golden Rope', the children have continued to plan, perform and start to write their own mini adventure stories in our Spelling and Grammar lesson this week. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading the different ideas that the children have had in planning their own adventure stories and we are looking forward to their final versions!

The Vikings topic is still of great interest to the children and this week they found out how close the Vikings got to taking over the country.  Using their chronology skills and a technique called living (or fortunes) graphs, the children had to work collaboratively to create and then analyse a visual representation of the struggle.

Well done Willow Class for all your hard work this week and we look forward to seeing you all next week.

Have a lovely weekend.
