Willow Class Week 8
Our PE focus this week has been hockey. The children learnt how to hold a hockey stick correctly and control a ball. We played follow the leader where the children had to dribble a ball behind the person in front of them. The children really enjoyed their first hockey lesson and are looking forward to learning new skills next week. The children also had their first gymnastics lesson with Mrs Thornton where they created a sequence of movements.
In our English lessons this week, the children had to imagine they were citizens of the Icelandic town in the story 'Arthur and the Golden Rope.' The children worked together to create a 'freeze 'frame' where they had to act out the dramatic parts of the story. We then used this to write a speech given by the town leader using emotive language and different sentence types to engage the reader.
In our Maths lessons this week, the children in Year 4 had to round a 4 digit number to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. The Year 3 children are beginning to learn how to use column subtraction. We look forward to Maths Week beginning on Monday.
