Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow Class - 10th - 14th January 2022

This week in English we started reading ‘Leon and the place between’.  We made predictions about what the text is about and the characters we might meet.  We have learned about writing dialogue and speech punctuation using conversations from the story.

Science was all about the topic of light where we learned about the sources of light and sorted them into natural and manmade.

In Art we looked at the work of French artist – Henri Matisse.  Next week we will make comparisons with other artists to discuss any similarities and differences.

Our multiplication and division topic continued this week in Maths and the children were very busy practicing multiplying 2 and 3 digit number by 1 digit numbers involving an exchange.  This is a very important skill to possess so well done to everyone for trying to master it so well!

After last week’s exciting computing lesson where the children were acting out being a computer network, we have now put all our skills and knowledge together and answered questions on this current topic with a partner.

The Maya topic continued this week in our History lessons.  After a very exciting introduction last week, this week the classroom turned into a ‘Mayan Art Gallery’!  From the pictures displayed around the room, the children identified what they thought might be important indicators as to why the Mayan Civilization from this time is considered important enough to study in schools.

To round the week up, the children have really enjoyed refining their hockey skills.  Despite the freezing cold temperatures, we have been very proud of the children for going outside without a fuss and playing well in teams.
