Our magical adventure to the Kingdom of Strudel
Well what an exciting and magical week it has been for all the children in Acorn Class. Having spotted a tiny fairy door in the role play castle last week, we set up a wildlife camera to keep watch in the classroom over the weekend and on Monday we were delighted to find that we had caught some footage of tiny characters emerging through the little door, reading the letters we had written for them and then leaving a tiny note for us. And so began our week of corresponding with the ‘Strudelfolk’.
To hear the full story, you will have to wait for the video film which we are making but in brief, together with the Year 1 children, we have used our imaginations to go on a magical adventure. We have hunted for the ingredients to make a magical potion and used it to cast a spell which enabled us to travel to the Patchwork Castle in the Kingdom of Strudel where we rescued the Strudel folk by bursting the bubbles which had entrapped them (quite significant we felt at this stage in the pandemic!).
Our adventure involved us staying overnight at school – and we are so proud of everyone of the 32 Reception and Year 1 children who took part in this experience and who, in the last two days, have grown in self-confidence, self-reliance and independence.
