Oak Week Beginning 26th June
We have had an exciting week both in and out of school this week, with 2 days out of the classroom.
On Wednesday all the Year 5's went up to the middle school for their transition day and came back full of excitement and enthusiasm about which house and form they were in. The following day, we met up again with lots of their new found friends at the Bell Boating Regatta in Pershore. This allowed the children to wave, high five and chat to each other and it was really lovely to see how sociable they were. They did a brilliant job on the river too, and showed real determination and commitment to try to win their races. The skills they had learnt at the practice Bell Boating session were definitely put to good use. Our children, as they always are, showed how well they can behave and were a real credit to us all.
Back in school this week we have concluded our study of a Midsummers Night's Dream by independently writing, producing an abridged version of the story. In maths we have started to look at negative numbers and did a group activity lesson reasoning and problem solving situations involving negative numbers. Our learning in Science has been covering the functions of the different systems in the human body and looking at the function of the different body organs.
On Friday we did some taste tasting to get us in mood for some Food Technology. We are going to be making some healthy savoury food in the form of quiches, so have been testing a variety of flavours to see what we think. This will lead us on to thinking about the ingredients we want to add to the basic recipe we will make next week. You may be quizzed about 'what can I add to my quiche?'
Next week is sports day (weather depending), we hope you can join us to watch their last first school events.
