Oak Week Beginning 1st July 2024
This week has been dominated by three big events: the Y5 performance, Sports Day and the Y4'd Buddy meet up. We have been very excited about all three events.
Sports Day was a fantastic event and Oak Class shone showing off the best of their abilities, both sporting and being good role models. They gave a superb performance in the mornings events and were very competitive in the races. During the field events in the afternoon, records were almost smashed by the boys and the girls showed off their amazing throwing and jumping skills. The winning teams were over the moon as was Edward who received the special award for his attitude and achievements during the day. More information available here from Mrs Thornton.
The play dress rehearsal was thoroughly enjoyed by the pupils and staff and the performers really enjoyed having an audience for the first time to lift them. The following performances to parents and the village community allowed the performers to keep improving and they had a great time showing off their dramatic skills. They have made us all feel extremely proud, and as a very small cast, they had so many lines to learn and costume changes to tackle in a very short time. It was a magnificent feat of memory and perseverance. They were amazing.
One of the highlights of being in Year 5 is to be a buddy, and this week, the Year 4 children met their buddies for the first time. They had made them a poster all about themselves so that their buddies could find out some important information about their new friends. They had a lovely time and were able to play and form some new bonds together.
To top off this busy week, the Year 5's have also got their joint leavers Beach Party at Bredon Hancocks on Friday Night. This gives them chance to mix with their newly formed friends who will be joining them at Bredon Hill Academy. They will have had lots of fun getting dressed up and dancing to the silent disco no doubt.
