Oak Business Enterprise at the Christmas Fayre
Last Friday saw the culmination of all the hard work undertaken by Oak Class pupils. We had a very successful couple of hours at the PFA Christmas Fayre and made an amazing amount of profit!
We had six stalls, each group drew a theme for their stall from a hat and set about using their £10 business loan to set up their own enterprise project. We had the following stalls:
- selling cakes
- decorating biscuits
- selling homemade smoothies
- guessing how many sweets un a jar and the name of a very cute penguin
- children's games - put in the nose on Rudolf, snow ball in cups and guess which cup the snowball is under
- Decorating wooden snowflakes
To reach this finale, the children completed a business plan, carried out market research, shopped online and created the products they were to sell. After the event they calculated their takings and worked out what their profits were and evaluated the whole process. Overall, the class made a grand total of £201.83 with the cake stall making the most profit and therefore being the overall winners. All the money will go into the school fund and Oak class will decide where the money should be spent. Last time we did this the class opted for new books for the library. We will go through a democratic process in the new year to decide where it could be used best.
Thank you for all the support shown to this project by those who bought from us at the school fayre. Again it had been a very valuable lesson in how to get the most out of a budget and work collaboratively for a common good.
