Holly Class - The Woolly Bear Caterpillar
As always, it has been an action packed week in Holly Class! We have loved the story, 'The Woolly Bear Caterpillar' this week, it has taught us all about the different types of caterpillars, moths and butterflies. It has been fascinating to learn about how moths and butterflies are similar and different and some of the children even had a go (sadly without success!) at caching some moths to observe.
In maths this week we have been learning all about money. We have set up shops and been working on recognising the correct coins to buy things and the year 1 children have also started adding together amounts. If you are out and about this weekend buying things using cash, trying giving it to your children and see if they can help!
In our literacy lessons we have been reflecting on the sunflowers that many of the children are nurturing and growing at home. The children have all created guides and instructions for how to grow and take care of sunflowers. They have done a brilliant job, I have seen some amazing writing from everyone.
In the afternoons this week the Holly class children have had a real treat working with some of of the other children and teachers whilst I have been out visiting our new Reception children for next year. They have done some artwork and RE with Hawthorn class, they have worked and played alongside the Acorn children and also done some D&T work with Mrs Billings and Mrs Peacey learning about where food comes from and eating a healthy diet.
Have a lovely, sunny weekend everyone!
