Shaping Bright Futures Together

Acorn 24 Simon Sock

Simon Sock is  lonely and hunts high and low to find a friend who looks the same as him.  When he does, he is disappointed to find that he does not enjoy doing the same things as them. Instead, he makes friends with a banana, showing that friendship comes in all shapes and sizes.  This has been a great way to round up this half term’s focus of celebrating difference.

The sock theme has run into our maths, where we have been using littler pickers to pick up as many socks as possible (and incidentally improving our co-ordination).  The record, so far, is 18 in 1 minute!  We have started syllable clapping, moving from clapping our names to clapping out the names of different types of animals.

The Hindu festival of Diwala will be celebrated next week, and we have learnt a little about the story behind it.  We have looked at some artefacts, made Rangoli patterns and Diva lamps.

Every afternoon this week, the children have had opportunity to show their family members around the classroom.  They have been keen to show off their work and the things that they play with.  Thank you to all of those that came and we hope that you all have a lovely half term holiday.
