The Hospital Dog
Our role play area transformed into an ambulance this week as we learnt about the important work that medical professionals do. Some of the children were able to recall their own experiences and this fed into their play. We watched some videos to further our knowledge about ambulances and hospitals. The story of 'The Hospital Dog' is heartwarming, revealing a lovely insight to how valuable time spent with kind animals is.
A look at some x-rays made us think about our bodies, how they work and the bones that lie underneath the skin. In phonics we have been using our robot voices to identify body parts and I modelled writing the words.
We had a visit from some tadpoles this week. The children were fascinated by their movement and asked some fantastic questions. We learnt about their life cycle and look forward to seeing them back in class in a few weeks. In maths, we have practised subitising (recognition of amounts of objects without counting) and number recognition.
We have spent more time outside, practising our throwing and catching. There has been some brilliant model making, with children working together to construct monster trucks and rockets. We have even managed a little water play.
