Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 07.04.25

This week, as Spring is in full swing, the children in Willow class learned how to sketch a daffodil. In Science lessons, the children have been studying the anatomy of a flower and the function of the various parts.  The class carefully followed directions of how to draw the daffodil and coloured it using multiple shades of yellow and orange to create a 3D effect. We then used these drawings to produce a Spring card. The class thoroughly enjoyed doing this and have made excellent progress with their drawing and shading skills. Mrs Peacey came in to see our drawings and was very impressed by what the children had produced.

In Topic, we have been learning about topographical maps. We have learnt that they are used to show the physical features which shape different landscapes and used our map work skills to locate some of the key mountains in the UK. The children did a relay activity to help them remember the names and locations of these mountains which was great fun. We also revisited previous learning and had a go at drawing a map of the UK from memory, adding on labels for the countries and capital cities.

In our Writing lessons we have been learning how to use imagery to create an effective setting description and we wrote our own descriptions of the snowy mountainous scenes from Mimi and the mountain dragon. In Maths we have been applying our learning from this term to complete some Easter themed challenges based on fractions, multiplication, division and reading scales.

Willow class have had a very busy term but we are really proud of how well they have all worked. We hope that everyone has a lovely Easter break and look forward to welcoming them back for the Summer term.
