Holly Class week beginning 31st March
It has been a busy week in Holly Class as we have started to prepare for our Easter service in school next Friday. The children are working really hard and we are looking forward to sharing this with you!
We have continued to use The Queen's Handbag to lead our writing and Geography work this week and the children have done some brilliant independent writing. The Year 1 children have been learning about prefixes and suffixes, in particular 'un-', '-er' and '-est' and they have been challenged to try and use these in their writing.
In Maths, the Year 1 children have been working with numbers up to 50. They have been exploring these using number lines, finding 1 more and 1 less and also learning about how we can use number lines to estimate. The Reception children have become really confident with finding doubles and have now moved on to a unit of work looking at 3D shape. They have been spotting 3D shapes all over our classroom and outside area and are working hard to learn the names of the shapes.
The children had great fun in PE using the parachute this week to play games and on Friday for forest school we went up to Liz and Jamie's farm to meet their lambs, it was such a treat! We had a wonderful time in the sunshine learning about everything they do to care for their animals, hunting for fossils and admiring the beautiful views of our village. Thank you for inviting us!
