Shaping Bright Futures Together

2425 Holly Class Week beginning 7th April

We have had lots of Easter fun in Holly class this week, thank you so much to those of you who were able to join us for our Easter assembly. The children loved making their headbands and learning and performing our 'Spring Chicken' song. I think you will agree, they sang brilliantly. The treats continued after the assembly as the children headed outside for our traditional Ashton Easter egg hunt. The Holly class children all worked with a buddy from KS2 to hunt for the eggs before enjoying their reward!

On Wednesday afternoon, Helen came to visit us and brought her accordion. She played to the children some traditional tunes as well as some that we know well and could sing along to. She also brought some smaller accordions that the children could learn about and have a go with. Thank you so much, Helen. It was a wonderful experience for the children which they thoroughly enjoyed.

This week we have enjoyed reading the story 'Naughty Bus'. It is about a bus that gets up to all sorts of mischief around his home, at the end of the story his lights come back on ready to cause trouble at night time. The children have planned and written their own Naughty Night Bus story and have done a super job, they should all be so proud of their work.

In maths, the Year 1 children have finished off their place value unit of work and the Reception children have continued to explore 3D shapes, learning their names and properties through different games and activities. In PE the children enjoyed a session on the bikes with Mrs Gibbons and in science the Year 1 children have been learning about food chains.

We hope everyone has a lovely Easter break and we will look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks.
