Shaping Bright Futures Together

24 25 Hawthorn Wb 20th January

This week in English, the children have enjoyed watching a series of film clips about penguins and gathering lots of information to enable them to write fact files about them. We've been focusing on different sentence types - particularly questions and statements.

Year 1s have finished their work on shape and moved on to addition within 20, using a range of resources both inside and outside the classroom.  The Year 2s found lots of different ways of sorting 2D shapes before moving on to the features of 3D shapes - faces, edges and vertices.

In topic, the children used atlases, maps and satellite images to identify the seven continents. In computing, they had a go at moving images on a PowerPoint document. In RE, they sequenced the story of the Prodigal Son.

In Science we found out about habitats and the children played a game to find out which animals lived in which habitat.

Finally, in PE we are learning to dance like a penguin.  The children have been working in small groups and pairs to build their own dances based on the book Penguin Small.  We really are becoming penguin experts!
