Shaping Bright Futures Together

Happy Easter

Our focus this week has been learning about the Easter story and the traditions associated with it.  The children have been learning the Hot Cross Bun nursery rhyme and have sampled them at snack time.

There have been Easter egg hunts, egg and spoon races and some mysterious footprints which needed to be followed in order to find a treasure chest full of chocolate goodies.  The children have also made shredded wheat Easter nests and some beautiful Easter cards.

Eggs have also featured in our maths and phonics, as the children have collected egg pictures and counted them, and used their robot voices to identify different coloured eggs for me to find!  On Wednesday, we had a treat as Helen came to give us a music lesson.  She is a very talented accordion player and the children were captivated by her.  Her son was particularly proud.  Thank you Helen, for coming in and sharing your skills.

Our week finished with the annual school Easter Egg Hunt.  The Friday children enjoyed participating, and with the help of our older children, all managed to find an egg.

We have had a lovely and fun packed half term.  Miss Hayward has settled well into life in Acorn Class and we have some exciting plans for the summer term.  The Acorn team would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter and we look forward to seeing you in the Summer term.

The Easter story as told by an Acorn child:

'Jesus gave all of his friends bread.

Jesus died on the cross

Friends were sad.

He came alive again'
