Acorn 25 Errol's Garden
The book Errol's Garden is a story about a little boy who is desperate to have his own garden and, with the help of his community, creates a garden on the roof top of the block of flats where he lives. Motivated by Errol, we are turning our thoughts to the outside and to Spring. We have been looking for signs of the new season both within the school grounds and in the orchard behind it. We have found white, yellow, purple and red flowers within the school grounds and will have a look again in June to see if there are more. We have also heard birds, seen blue skies and spotted shadows. The children have all planted a spider plant 'baby' to take home and look after.
We have been singing 'There's a worm at the bottom of the garden' and 'There's a snail at the bottom of the garden'. We are hoping to record the children singing these songs and will hopefully play it in the Poetry Plate competition next Friday. In Maths, we have been comparing the sizes of plastic worms and in phonics we have been making long and short, quiet and loud sounds with musical instruments. We have also continued to practice our catching, this time with large balls.
On Friday, we celebrated Red Nose Day, and all of our children dressed up for the occasion. Thank you for the donations that you made.
I would also like to say a special thank you to Mrs Harding Hudd who has been working in Acorn Class until Miss Hayward starts on Monday. She has worked very hard and been a real asset. Luckily, she will still be spending time with us on a Wednesday and we will be able to see her regularly in Holly Class.
