Shaping Bright Futures Together

Acorn - Cinderella

Our Cinderella story is set in Mexico.  We have taken a trip in our imaginary aeroplane to visit the country and learn some facts about life there. We have looked at patterns on Mexican fabric and tracked patterns with paint.  We have listened to Mexican music and tapped out the beat with maracas.

The children have enjoyed wearing sombreros in our role play area and learnt the Spanish word for Hello - 'Hola'!  They have also taken turns to hit a pinata, wielding a large tube with surprising accuracy.  Maths this week has focused on programming a Beebot - each child taking their turn to plan a path, using arrows.  In phonics, we have been thinking about rhyme, with each child having to identify a colour by a word that sounds similar e.g. bread/ red.  We have also spent more time outside, playing with our balance bikes and trikes.

What a treat!  We have had two visitors to class.  Theodore bought his Mummy and baby brother to meet the class.  Rory bought his Daddy in to school to tell us all about his job, working with aeroplanes.  Thank you for visiting, we really enjoyed it.

On Friday afternoon, we harnessed the wind and made 'kites'.  We ran around outside and tested them.  It was the perfect end to the week!
