The children in Key Stage 2 took part in a Guinness World Record attempt for the most children taking part in a hand washing lesson. The children listened incredibly well to a short story about why we should wash our hands and how to wash them correctly. We learned all about the different viruses that can invade our bodies and how we can keep these at bay and stay healthy. We watched a demonstration to show how important it is to wash your hands thoroughly to remove all the germs.
In Writing lessons this week, the children have been learning how to use subordinating conjunctions in topic sentences to add more information. We used our learning in Science lessons to write sentences about invertebrates remembering to extend our sentences using various conjunctions. The Year 4 children experimented with their sentence structure by starting a sentence with a coordinating conjunction. In Maths, the children have consolidated their work on written methods and answering questions accurately.
Our Topic lesson furthered our understanding of why the Vikings chose to come to Britain as we learnt about the items which they would have traded. We played a trading game whereby half the class took on the role of Anglo Saxons and the other half being Vikings. Each round had an additional level of challenge to make the game more varied. We enjoyed this activity and it helped us understand the importance of trading.
