This week we have been creating information reports based on our knowledge of Viking trading. We began by exploring what the Vikings traded, which type of boats were best for trading, where they travelled to and what we can learn from Viking burials. We then recorded our findings in the style of a report. We also used an interactive map to help us with decision making as to whether we would raid or trade based upon the items available.
In our Art lesson, we worked on developing our sketching skills and tried out hatching and stippling as a way of creating lighter and darker tones. We with then use these to create our dragon head sketches to make them look more realistic.
In Maths this week, our Year 3 children have been practising and applying methods of addition and subtraction, both mentally and written methods. Meanwhile, the Year 4 children have begun to think about area and making shapes with a given area. In Writing lessons we have been exploring the use of powerful verbs in poetry and how they can be used to build up a picture in the reader's mind. We selected from a bank of verbs to create some sentences about a goldfinch.
