Oak Week Beginning 14th October 2024
Tuesday gave us the chance to get involved in a countrywide Guinness World Record attempt. The children gathered in the hall, following the strict guidelines to meet the record breaking criteria, and followed along with the lesson. We learnt valuable tips for washing hands properly, seeing how magic green gel that shows up bacteria will only go with thorough cleaning. Different germs were explained from viruses, to bacteria to super resistant MRSA bacteria - the enemy of antibiotics! The children all sat perfectly for the videos and photos to be taken to prove how many of us took part, thank you Mrs Brown for being our official marshal in charge of evidence. A great success - fingers crossed the record was broken!
We have been very busy writing lots of information texts over the last week. We have done two in our writing lessons and one in our history books. The children are now very expert in lots of different aspects of Viking life and have written all about how to improve their wellbeing too. We are now learning a poem from memory: Matilda by Hilaire Belloc. We will be doing a performance of this poem in class, acting it out as a play and reporting on the story within the poem as a newspaper report.
It was lovely to see so many of you at the Oak open classroom this Friday. We loved showing off all our lovely work and it was great to have this opportunity to show how hard we have been working.
