Shaping Bright Futures Together

Holly Class wb 21st October

This week, we have enjoyed reading pumpkin soup, the animals making their soup made us all laugh! On Wednesday, we made a batch of our own pumpkin soup and the children worked in groups to decide which herbs and spices they would like to add. Two groups chose ginger and one group chose cumin, they enjoyed tasting and comparing their soups at snack and a chat time on Thursday! As part of the Y1 D&T work, we also looked at the 'eat well' plate and talked about which food group our soup fit into. The children then used photos to sequence and write their own instructions for making soup.

Pumpkin soup was also the theme of forest school this week, we took some pots and pans up to the meadow and had lots of fun making a watery, leafy, muddy version of the animal's soup!

In maths this week, the year 1 children have continued their addition work and become more confident to solve addition problems. The Reception children have been looking at different ways of making 3.

The Year 1 children have finished off their history work this week, they have been learning about the life of Mary Seacole and comparing her work to that of Florence Nightingale.

Holly class have had a brilliant half term and we are so proud of all that they have achieved. We hope you all have a lovely break.
