Acorn 24 The Three Little Pigs
The snow that arrived on Tuesday caused great excitement. We went straight outside to play in it, even managing to build a snowman before cold fingers and toes got the better of us. On Thursday, we hunted in the playground for ice and brought it inside to investigate. We noticed that it was very cold, that it broke when we dropped it and that it had tiny little bubbles in it. After a while it melted, leaving puddles!
On Tuesday afternoon, we joined Holly class to pack shoeboxes with lovely Christmas gifts for other children, who will not be as fortunate as ourselves and will not receive another present at Christmas. This gave us a lovely learning opportunity to talk about children who may have different life experiences to our own. The sorting of the pencils into colours and counting them beforehand also gave us plenty of Maths practice.
Our focus this week, has been the 3 Little Pigs. We have had such fun reenacting the story and building dens from which to hide from the Big Bad Wolf. This game has also spilled out into the playground where we ran away from Mrs Shiels before she caught us and learnt to play 'What's the time Mr Wolf'. The children have really enjoyed the phrases that repeat through the story and have been using them in their imaginative play. They have also been practising their syllable clapping.
