In English, we've continued our work about different sentence types, focusing on commands and exclamations. We've also looked at adding suffixes such as 'ly', 'ment' and 'ness' onto the end of root words. Next week, the children will have a go at planning and writing their own stories inspired by 'Bob, Man on the Moon'.
Both year groups started the week by working on length and height in maths so there was lots of practical measuring with rulers and metre sticks! The Year 1s have now begun work on mass and capacity, while the Year 2s will move on to comparing and ordering various items by size.
In RE, we came to the end of our unit and reflected on what Christians think God is like by creating our own poem. In topic, the children have added information to fact files about England and Scotland. Next week, they'll move on to Wales and Northern Ireland. In computing, they've programmed the BeeBots to move forwards and backwards, and begun to build up a series of instructions involving various directions.
A highlight of the week was a visit from a special instructor who led a fantastic cricket session - the children really developed some of their catching and throwing skills and thoroughly enjoyed the lesson.
