Willow wb 15.07.24
It is hard to believe that we have completed another school year already! We are really proud of all of the Year 3s who have worked consistently hard throughout the year to achieve their targets, taken in all their new learning and shown enthusiasm towards their lessons. We wish them all the very best of luck for Year 4 and look forward to seeing them progress even more. Well done for a fantastic year Willow Class!
On Monday afternoon, we were joined by Oak Year 4 class and the children used a website to create their own Roman Mosaic. They used different coloured tiles to create a pattern of their own choice and then we looked at various examples of Roman Mosaics to inspire our own patterns. In writing lessons, the children explored different ways to start their sentences. We used the story ‘Romulus and Remus’ to use fronted adverbials to vary our sentences to show time, place and manner.
In Art, we have created some still life pictures, using everyday objects and our observational skills. The children did a brilliant job of drawing the objects to scale and thinking about what angle they could see the items from. We then added pastels to build tone and make our pictures appear more 3 dimensional.
On Thursday, you received a letter about the Fonetti app (link here) which supports the children with reading aloud accurately and can be accessed for free throughout the Summer holidays. We would encourage everyone to take part in this as it is something the children can do independently and supports them in keeping up with reading during the six weeks holiday. We hope everyone has a lovely Summer break and that the sunshine continues to make an appearance!
