Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 08.07.24

This week as part of our writing lessons, the children used a thesaurus to explore powerful verbs. We re-read the story ‘Romulus and Remus’ and used the text  to improve our sentences using a better verb choice. The children worked well to edit their work and think hard about their vocabulary choices. In computing lessons this week the children continued their work using Turtle Logo. The class experimented with various codes to create regular polygons using a  repeat loop. We also learned how many degrees in a full turn to help us draw different sized circles.

In Maths, we have completed our unit on statistics. The class interpreted and completed two way tables. We used these to ask and answer questions to retrieve information. We also explored an open ended investigation where we had to use our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills. The children were given the inputs and outputs on a function machine and had to work out the processes in between. They did a great job of working with their partner and by the end, had identified some patterns which helped them to reach more solutions.

The children in Year 4 worked in a group to create their own political party and they presented their manifesto to Willow Class. The Year 3 children then had to vote for the party of their choice having listened carefully to the presentations that focused on the environment, schools and the town of Evesham. They cast their vote anonymously in the ballet box provided. The children really enjoyed listening to the manifestos and making their own decision on which party to vote for.

Now that we are coming to the end of our Romans topic, we looked at what the Romans have done for us and considered the many structural buildings they have left us with. We also completed some activities to show what we have retained from our topic.
