Sports Day 2024

This week we held our annual Sports Day at Ashton Playing Fields. The weather was very kind to us and we didn't have a drop of rain! All of the children from Pre-School through to Year 5 took part and everyone had a fun filled, active day.

We started with our procession to the playing fields, where we did our house chants and our warm up. Next came the Round Robin activities where the children were split into house groups and competed against each other for the House cup. 

After that came the individual track races where all the runners earned points for their house. Our lovely pre-school children very enthusiastically took part in this too and the last track event was the parent's egg and spoon race. This was probably the most competitive race of the day!

All of the points from the round robin and  track events were added together and the overall House winners from the morning were SAPPHIRE.

We ended the morning with the house relay race which was won by RUBY this year. 

Congratulations to all of the SAPPHIRE and RUBY children!

This years Sports Day achievement cup was won by Edward in Oak class for his determination to succeed and positive attitude. Well done Edward!

In the afternoon the younger children from Holly and Hawthorn took part in their chosen traditional sports day races on the track, while the older children competed in their field events (see results table below).

I would just like to say a personal thank you to all of the lovely staff for their support in making this event such a happy, fun occasion. Also our wonderful volunteers, Mrs Stephenson, Mrs Cooke, Mrs Rose, Mr Leahy, Miss Fox, Georgie, Gracie and Ben. Not forgetting Mrs Harding-Hudd for keeping us supplied with much needed hot drinks!

Thank you also to our wonderful crowd of parents, grandparents, friends and family of our lovely children, for your support.

A massive well done to every single child for their enthusiasm and determination, they certainly made this Sports Day one to remember.
