2324 Holly class week beginning 18th March
Thank you to everyone who joined us in the Church earlier today for our Easter celebration. The children have been working really hard to learn and perfect their Clever Little Bulbs song, as well as make their headbands for the performance. Our celebrations continued back at school with the traditional Easter Egg hunt around the school grounds, a lovely time was had by all!
In our literacy lessons this week the children have been writing and making their own lift the flap information sheets all about Bog Baby. The Reception children have been writing sentences and drawing pictures to answer questions and the Year 1 children have been writing their own question sentences and writing longer answers. They look brilliant and the children are really proud of their work.
In maths this week, the Reception children have been learning about doubles to ten. They have been making double on their hands, dice and dominos and recalling doubles to 10. The Year 1 children have been finishing their place value work using numbers to 50. They have been finding 1 more and 1 less as well as estimating on number lines.
On Monday the children had a litter picking session run by Little Litter Warriors who enthused the children about the importance of litter picking and recycling. The Year 1 children also made some posters in their Geography lesson to encourage people to stop littering after learning about how it can cause environmental problems and spoil areas. Many of the children have also been very busy in our junk modelling area this week after reading 'The Life of a Little Cardboard Box', they have been inspired to use their imaginations and turn cardboard boxes and bits of junk into some fabulous new models.
Happy Easter from us all in Holly Class!
