Holly Class W/B 4th December 2023
Another exciting week has passed. Our story this week has been The Jolly Christmas Postman and the children have loved turning the role play area into a Christmas post office! Some special helpers were chosen to sort all of the mail delivered into the school post box and deliver them to the right classes. The children have loved getting into the Christmas spirit with lots of nativity rehearsals and activities, as well as starting our class advent calendar! Please see the photo gallery to see what fun we have been getting up to!
In phonics this week, Reception have learnt the phonemes, sh, th and ng, as well as practising listening and communication skills during show and tell. Year 1 have recapped all of the phase 5 phonemes and practiced writing these within words and sentences.
In maths this week, Reception have practiced counting skills, ordering numbers to 10 and matching different representations of numbers to 5. Year 1 have continued their work on shape by 2D printing shapes to make their own wrapping paper and naming them. They have also completed arithmetic and reasoning assessments and tried so hard with these!
In English this week, Holly Class have completed their best handwriting pieces and created some really beautiful work. Year 1 have practiced their handwriting, common exception words and sentence structure, as well as completing their reading assessments.
The children are very excited for the performance next week and can’t wait to show you all their hard work!
Have a great weekend everyone.
