23 24 Hawthorn wb 3rd June
We've had a great start back to our final half term together.
On Tuesday, everyone settled back into our usual routines and we had a focus on The Great Fire of London in order to complete our topic. Lots of the children are quite sad to see it go as they've enjoyed learning about it so much!
We kicked off our new topic with a super day out at Sandfields Farm on Wednesday. Our topic is called, 'Where in the word are we?' and has a strong, local geography focus, so this was a perfect way to begin our learning.
In the morning, we went for a tour around the farm led by Emma, the farmer, who told us all about the different crops grown there, both in the fields and orchard. We also saw some of the calves they breed and were accompanied all the way by Frank and Fly, the dogs. We stopped for a well-deserved lunch and then the children had the opportunity to explore the woodland play area. They had lots of fun playing on a tyre swing and slides, as well as den-building and getting close to nature! A wonderful (and muddy) time was had by all and we'd like to thank Mrs August and Mr Leahy for giving up their valuable time to accompany us on the visit.
