It was lovely to welcome everyone back after the Easter holidays to what will be our final term together as a class. The children were certainly refreshed and raring to go!
In English, they had a go at writing a recount about what they'd done during their Easter holidays and we enjoyed finding out about all their activities. Next week, we'll be starting a short unit of work focusing on Performance Poetry in preparation for our annual Poetry Plate Competition the following week.
In maths, Year 1s have begun their work on multiplication and division, and thoroughly enjoyed counting in 2s and 5s, all the way up to 50. Year 2s are just finishing off their work on Length and Height and tackled some challenging word problems using all 4 operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
This week saw our final lesson on data in Computing, in which the children further developed their sorting skills. And we've also brought our Eco topic to a close, finishing off with a short quiz to find out what they've learnt. Look out for an exciting new topic starting next week!
We had an exciting Design and Technology day on Thursday. Linking to our Eco topic, we used our recycling to make a space model which lined to all our work on space last half term. The children designed their own rockets, telescopes or satellites and then made them using different join types before finishing them off with aluminium foil and red and orange tissue flames. The children had a great time and, as you can see from the photographs, they produced some fantastic models!
