Hawthorn Wb 29th January
This week, the children have written their own stories based on 'Fatou, Fetch the Water'. This was quite a tricky challenge but they certainly rose to the occasion. We're really pleased with the progress they're making in their writing and the skills they're developing.
In maths, the Year 1s have been finding doubles and near doubles before moving on to subtraction within 20. The Year 2s have begun to write number sentences using the multiplication symbol and create arrays.
On Tuesday, we held our first 'Mastering Number for Parents' workshop for the Year 1 children. Thanks to all who were able to attend - we hope you enjoyed it. Just a reminder that the Year 2 workshop will take place on Wednesday 7th February at 2:15pm.
One of the things the children said they wanted to learn about during our current topic was life in the oceans. They had a go at a super activity on Tuesday which combined map reading, compass directions and creature identification skills. In computing, the focus was on refining and debugging the algorithms they created for their BeeBots.
On Thursday, the children all took part in the sponsored skip in aid of CASK. All of the children joined in, did some super jumping and skipping and had great fun. Many thanks for all of your support.
