Shaping Bright Futures Together

Harry's Hazelnut

Sport's Day was a great success, with lots of our children participating in a school running race at the playing field.  We also did running races, egg and spoon races and bean bag target throwing on the school field, and had a lovely packed lunch picnic together afterwards.

Our book this week has been Harry's hazelnut, which tells the story of Harry who plants a hazelnut in his Reception year at school and tends it throughout his life.  He even uses one of its branches to make a walking stick when he becomes an old man.  The story has inspired us to make a shelter (with tunnels) although due to the wet weather on Wednesday, it was inside instead of outside.

Other news, we are becoming quite knowledgeable about the change in seasons, and our books are really beginning to take shape.  We have also been talking about our emotions and how we feel at various points in the day, in addition to continuing our work on phonics and maths!
