23 Hawthorn wb 23 January
What a lot we have done this week in Hawthorn class!
Firstly, at the beginning of the week Miss Miller was poorly so the class were taught by Mrs Peacey and had a lovely time with her. Thank you, Mrs Peacey and get well soon, Miss Miller!
In our English lessons we have been practising writing non-fiction texts. The children used their knowledge about snakes and we have written introductions, fact statements, captions and then put it all together in a fact file page.
In our Maths lessons the year ones have been continuing with their work on numbers up to 20 and have started to learn their number bonds to 20. Year 2 have started on multiplication and division and have looked at equal groups, adding equal groups and have been introduced to the multiplication symbol.
We have been continuing with our work on emotions and the children worked in groups to discuss how they would feel under different circumstances such as; riding a roller coaster, falling out with your best friend, hearing the fire alarm or finding out there was chocolate cake for lunch! There was a lot of good discussion as you can see from some of the photographs.
In Science we went out and about to find things in the school grounds that were made from different materials. We found things made from metal, plastic, wood, rubber and bricks.
Finally, in our PE lessons we have been learning a new dance ready to show to the school in our dance festival. You can see the beginning of what they are learning in our photographs. It looks like it is going to be good!
