Winnie the Pooh meets the King
Our focus this week has been on the Coronation of King Charles III. The book has introduced the class to the key people involved and the sights in London, where the events will take place. The story is extra appropriate as Piglet takes an acorn to the King for him to plant!
We have been preparing for today's Coronation celebration, with children painting their own interpretation of the Union Jack and making a royal state coach out of a paper plate. They have used their imagination by dressing as a King or Queen and playing with the throne in the role play castle. The homemade orb and sceptre have been very popular too. They have also learned the National Anthem and 'Sing for the King' song with great enthusiasm.
Today's celebrations have been lovely, despite the weather. We managed the parade and the children were very pleased to show off their outfits. Our monarch for the day, led our class with great pride, and represented us beautifully as we knew she would. We played some party games and really enjoyed our special party lunch. Thank you Mrs Stephenson, for all of your help.
