23 Acorn Princess and the Pea
We have been finishing our trips around the world this week, with a little more time looking at Japanese characters and recreating them on our light box. On Tuesday, it was Valentine's Day, and we made some very simple origami heart cards for our loved ones.
We then had a brief look at Russia by looking at the story of the Princess and the Pea. This inspired us in maths, with singing and acting out 'There were 10 in a bed' and making our own version of the princess' bed. We each cut out a paper mattress and found the relevant number to stick on it. We also experimented by hiding a pea underneath a pile of cushions. We discovered that we had no princesses in school and the best we could do was to feel a stone under 2 cushions!
Our last trip was an impromptu visit to South Africa, with a help of one of our lovely parents who has recently been there on holiday. We had a talk about Safer Internet usage, and have been practising our recognition of initial sounds by playing I spy. However, the highlight of the week has been taking part in Chi Chi Dance on Monday. We had a wonderful time dancing to our favourite Disney songs.
We would like to thank our Pershore High student for volunteering in class this week. She has been very helpful and a valued addition to the team.
Acorn Class have had another busy but fun half term, and The Acorn Team would like to wish the children and families a very Happy Half Term.
