Shaping Bright Futures Together

George and the Dragon

We started the week by finding out all about St George's Day; the legend and the traditions.  We then heard the Chris Wormell story where George is a tiny mouse that scares the dragon.  This inspired us to build a role play castle, which, in turn, has sparked our imagination and spilled out into the rest of our play.

We have learnt an excellent counting rhyme about 5 dragons, and talked about our age.  Children have made miniature versions of themselves based on their age (stacking the corresponding amount of blocks) and played with them in our small world castle.  We have also pretended to make strange sandwiches, the children identifying the sandwich content by listening to the clues either by robot talk and or initial sound.

Our caterpillars continue to grow and cause great fascination.  We have plenty of conversation about size and life cycles.

We made King Charles a lovely card, telling him that we like his crown and that we hope that he enjoys his special day. We are looking forward to celebrating this momentous occasion next week.
