22-Hawthorn Wb 17th October
The final week of the half term has been as busy as ever!
In English, the children have been learning about Queen Elizabeth II so that they could practise writing sentences about a famous person. The children had to try to use conjunctions to join their ideas together and use their knowledge of the Queen to make it interesting.
In Maths, the Y1s have been continuing with addition fact families and then moved on to number bonds within 10. The Y2s have been continuing with counting and have counted in 2s, 5s and 10s and then looked at counting on and back in 10s from any number.
In Phonics, the Y1s have been learning alternative sounds for "oa" - ow, o_e and oe. As usual, if you come across any of these sounds in your day-to-day life, please share them with your child.
The children had a lovely Art lesson creating an abstract portrait of Florence Nightingale using pastels in the style of Paul Klee. The pictures are fantastic, and we will upload a gallery showing their work very soon.
In Science, we counted minibeasts that we found in different microhabitats in the playground. The children have then plotted these out onto pictograms and compared what we found in different areas.
A lovely time was had by all on Tuesday when the children took part in a scootability session. Have a look at the article and the photos on the website.
Finally, have a super half term holiday and we look forward to seeing you all rested and ready to start again on Monday 31st October.
