Leaf Man
Leaf Man has been a very popular story. We collected fallen leaves and made our own versions, each child using different natural items to make a unique person.
On Monday, two of us had our first visit to the mobile library. We chose 2 books and will return them next month. Hopefully, we will all get chance to choose a book.
We have also been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We looked at some different Hindu artefacts, heard the Diwali story and made our own autumn Diva lamps. We found out that peacocks are very important to Hindu culture, and we used the feathers kindly donated to the school as a basis for a display. We used our developing fine motor skills to snip paper, use fine paintbrushes to paint and make our own peacock feathers. We have also had chance to colour in a large rangoli pattern with chalk.
The rhyme about the five little leaves up in a tree which fell to the ground has been very popular. We then followed this up with a dance session, where the children had to use their imagination to pretend to be a leaf blowing in the wind. This was very popular, and the children all displayed excellent listening skills. They have made huge progress in 7 weeks! The Acorn Team would like to wish you all a very happy half term holiday.
