Shaping Bright Futures Together

Postman Bear

At last we have some nice warm and sunny weather.  This means that our focus has shifted somewhat to outdoor play and experiencing all the fun that our outdoor area has to offer.  There has been an outdoor obstacle courses, car tracks and plenty of water play.  Everyone feels brighter and livelier and our emotional check in board reveals that most of us are feeling happy (and hungry)! We had the discussion before lunch.

The story has made us think about the job of a Post person and our phonics and maths has been based on 'writing' postcards and choosing a destination for that card.  The children were able to choose between 5 different houses, they had to identify the number and dictate, using their robot voice, which animal's house to send it to.  They then posted the card.  We were able to  use our mathematical language to describe their different sized houses and the quantity of cards in each house.

We had 2 wonderful visits from parents, telling us about their jobs.  Mrs Pilcher bought Mindy the horse to school and Mr Pilcher showed us how he put new shoes on her.  Later on in the week, Dr Crowther brought 'Big Ted' into school, and she was able to show us what would happen if he came into her surgery.  Luckily, 'Big Ted' was given the all clear.  The children were fascinated with both visits and we would like to thank Mr and Mrs Pilcher and Dr Crowther for giving up their valuable time.

Work has began on our clay pinch pots.  There will be more news on this in the coming weeks.
