Shaping Bright Futures Together

Little Acorns

What an appropriate book this has been for the autumnal weather we have been experiencing this week!  The heavy rain on Monday gave us plenty of opportunity for outdoor fun, splashing around in muddy puddles and making water courses for water that we collected in the playground.  We finished the day off with the baking of some delicious biscuits.

On Tuesday, we went on our first outing to collect apples.  Thank you to the Archer family for letting us trample on their garden and letting us take a bag full of apples.  We have put the  apples to good use, making apple juice, apple pie and using them to print with.

We have looked at the sycamore trees in the playground and noticed the change in the colours of leaves.  We also found some seeds that we could use as helicopters.  The children tested them and noticed the "spinning" motion of the wing.  On Friday, we had great fun opening conker husks to find the treasure inside. Nature has so much fun to offer.

Throughout the week the children have performed the Big Red Combine Harvester song in our very own version of this vehicle, cleverly created by Mrs Clayton. The children have thoroughly enjoyed playing in it also.  The completed videos were played in the school Harvest Festival.  Links below.....
