The Snail and the Whale
We have had great fun with the Snail and the Whale this week, although the dry weather made it very tricky to find any snails within the school grounds! This meant that we had to change our plans for a snail race. However, we still learnt about the difference in size between a snail, our smallest child and a 33 metre whale. Mrs Clayton drew an enormous whale on the playground and we were amazed at just how big an actual whale is. We all managed to sit on the whale's tail.
We have also being practising making spirals (snails); making them in sand, painting in water and drawing in chalk. Some of our children have also been forming the letter 'e' as part of their name. Our 'I spy with my little eye' skills have improved hugely, with many of our older children being able to differentiate between initial sounds.
This has been the last day of our 30 day wild challenge. We have splashed in water, exercised outside with pedometers, played on the field with tents and tunnels, drawn outside and made up stories.
However, the biggest news of the week, has been transition day. Acorn class welcomed 3 new children into class, and our N2 children went into Holly class. They all had a lovely time and coped really well. The Acorn team are very proud of everyone.
