Shaping Bright Futures Together

The Colour Monster

The Colour Monster story is an excellent introduction to emotional intelligence and a way to teach the children the words to verbalise their feelings. In the story the monster's emotions are all stirred up, and his friend helps him to separate these into feelings of happiness, sadness, anger, fear, calmness and love.  We use these terms throughout school and have regular check ins to gauge how children feel.

Following on from the visit from The Dog's Trust, we have had visits from lots of pets this week.  The children really enjoyed meeting Nugget the guinea pig, Tod the tortoise, Jiggy the budgie and Winston the dachsund.  Thank you to Mrs Clayton, Mrs Tulley and Mrs Peacey for bringing in their precious pets for us to enjoy.

Wet weather on Monday meant that we had another great playtime outside in the rain.  On Thursday, we joined Holly Class for a walk to the playing fields and park.  We had a brilliant time playing and investigating, and even had chance to enjoy hot chocolate and a biscuit!

We have also been practising counting conkers and trying to identify objects by their initial sound. I spy is a difficult game but one that we will be working on throughout the year.
